Robin Sharma’s 90/90/1 Rule states that for the next 90 days, schedule the first 90 minutes of your working day to only 1 activity, that guarantees success in what you are trying to achieve.
The rule is very simple and straight forward. You might be wondering why something so simple is considered a rule. There are two major obstacles that prevents us from achieving desired results in things we do. The first reason is the lack of focus on the task and the second reason is not being able to do it on a consistent basis. So, this rule acts as a reminder on what and when to do it.
This 90/90/1 rule is not a research based finding. It’s something that worked for Robin Sharma and many others who learn from him. So, it’s definitely not a fixed rule. The important thing is that 90 minutes a day is considerable time and when you multiple it into 90 days, that becomes considerable amount of time that can be used achieve something substantial.
Let’s say you are a book writer. If you write just 3 pages in the 90 minutes you have each day, you can write a 250 pages book in 3 months. That’s substantial result assuming that you spend time on email, social media and watching news in early part of your day.
Also, you can adjust this rule based on what works for you. For example you can adjust it as 60/120/1. The important thing is you should spend considerable amount of time on a daily basis for considerable time period, focusing on just one things. But, if you work 90 mins on first day, take a break on next day and then work 180 minutes on the next day, it won’t give you the desired result.
So, try out this method and find what works for you and what you can achieve in a 90 day period. The results may surprise you.
