Always Improve Always Get Better Even When You Are The Best – Lessons From All Blacks

Life Lessons from the great All-Blacks Rugby Team

The New Zealand rugby team known as All-Blacks is one of the greatest sports teams with a unique culture. In the book Legacy, the author James Kerr explains how all blacks always try to get better even when they are the best rugby team in the world.

In life, we have goals and processes that bring us closer to achieving those goals. To be a highly successful person, you should seek to be the best at what you do.

The people who seek to be the best learn new skills, make mistakes, learn from the mistakes, and improve to be the best. However, many of you will relax and take things for granted after becoming the best. Assume that you become the best employee in your company, showing performance beyond the expectations of your superiors.  Then, many of you will start expecting a higher salary, work with low intensity, and take leaves as you know that you are the best in the company.  However, on one hand, other employees will work hard to become like you or even beat you. On the other hand, your bosses may also start to groom other employees into your position knowing the risk in case you leave the job.

Once you become the best, you will have more attention and competitors. That is when you are most vulnerable. So, build an attitude to keep improving even after reaching your goals and becoming the best. That’s the reason why All Blacks are always the best in the world.
